21st Century uses GSM/GPRS and 3G technology to deliver a transport specific communication tool for live connection to vehicles.
Primarily used in an emergency situation, the lines of communication can be connected permanently or in the event of manual activation via an incident switch located in the vehicle. Following activation any one of the following actions can be completed automatically or manually:
- Live digital video can be transmitted directly to a response centre where access to any or all of the cameras on the vehicle can be obtained
- A live voice call can be connected to enable two-way conversation between the depot and driver/guard
- An SMS text message can be sent containing vehicle location and I.D.
Installation of this system allows for a rapid assessment of any emergency situation and deployment of the appropriate resources.
In addition, a separate service call switch can be added, which will enable connection to a fleet service centre so a vehicle failure, or other service related problem can be explained.
