Central & General invests in Wi-Fi CCTV
18 April 2007

London Central & London General, part of the Go Ahead Group and one of London's fastest growing bus operators, are currently installing CCTV with Wi-Fi on their London fleets.

Some of the Company's London buses now have Wi-Fi connectivity for the first time, enabling them to automatically download images as the vehicles enter the depot, making image recall far quicker and simpler.

London Central & London General operate over 100 routes in the capital carrying over 260 million passengers every year and views CCTV as essential in order to give staff and passengers protection and peace of mind.

In addition to CCTV with Wi-Fi London Central & London General are also using 21st Century's black box technology to monitor vehicle activity such as G-forces, GPS location, RPM, braking, acceleration and indicator use. All the information is displayed on a single screen along with the CCTV playback.

Andrew Smith, London Central & London General Risk & Safety Manager says "We are impressed with the high image quality that we are obtaining and the ease of use of the system. The Wi-Fi transfer of data has worked without any problems from day one. The system allows us to check each bus on a daily basis and ensure that CCTV images are available when we need them."

Paul Rogers from 21st Century says "We now have over 800 buses operating with CCTV and Wi-Fi in the London area alone and we are delighted to add London Central & London General to a growing number of bus operators that recognise the strategic value of our system".
